CLICK

CLICK: Cognition in Context

CLICK is a powerful approach that helps explain why some children find it difficult to access, retain and apply learning. It is the foundation for developing motivation, engagement and a sense of achievement by ensuring all children have access to high quality, appropriate learning experiences. The model is simple and efficient and can be adapted to fit with current planning, monitoring and curriculum content. We use a practical best fit approach to developing understanding of cognitive skills including memory, attention, language skills, and how to match these skills to learning experiences from planning through to delivery and monitoring.

We will discuss your specific requirements but this can include one or more of the following:

  • Face to face training or workshops to develop understanding, confidence and skills in order to be able to apply the principles of CLICK to curriculum planning, delivery and monitoring for use with individuals or groups of children or across classrooms. This can be carried out as a fully day training but is most effective when delivered over four shorter sessions with opportunities for practical activities and reflection between sessions.

  • Support to carry out an audit or review of current practices around planning, delivering, or monitoring the progress of, children whose learning is slow or inconsistent in order to identify existing strengths and identify areas for development.

  • Focus on implementing the CLICK approach with particular groups, for example, small groups within a year group or key stage, or children with a particular need.

  • In class support to assist with the implementation of CLICK strategies and approaches.

  • Supervision or group problem solving support for adults supporting children using the CLICK approach.

  • Practical resources and materials to support the approach (provided free of charge in electronic format)

  • Work to develop systems and strategies at an organisational level that promote the approach. For example, incorporating the approach into planning structures, pupil passports or IEPs.
