Vision and Values

Living the best possible life

Our vision is for everyone we work with, big or small, to experience being listened to, valued and enabled to show what they are capable of.

This is at the heart of everything we do.

The values underpinning Goodlife Psychology's work are:

Compassion, equality and growth

We believe passionately that every individual deserves to thrive and that enabling this to happen should be at the heart of every organisation. This is why Kathy focusses on providing opportunities for professional development and growth and works at the whole-organisation level as well as with individuals. Kathy embodies compassion and equality in her own business by operating a pay it forward system where you can contribute towards 1:1 coaching sessions for someone who would not usually be able to access this service.  She also offers free wellbeing group sessions for SENDCOs. Kathy is working towards setting up Goodlife Psychology as a not-for-profit social enterprise.

In her own practice Kathy aims to:

  • Work in a self-aware and reflective way. Embodying the core values of compassion, equality and growth in everything that she does.
  • Continuously develop her own practice through reading, training, and responding to feedback.
  • Be creative and courageous in her delivery of services so that they really meet client's needs
  • Help individuals and settings identify and utilise their strengths and positive characteristics. Using these as the foundations for change.
  • Work collaboratively with adults as equal partners so that psychology can be applied to make a real difference to people's lives.
  • Work strategically with settings to enable change in the most efficient and effective manner.

Kathy wants the adults she works with to:

  • Feel good about themselves and their work.
  • Feel listened to and valued.
  • Recognise their strengths and share good practice.
  • Gain insight into their own and children's values, beliefs and needs.
  • Develop problem solving skills.
  • Have the skills and confidence they need to develop and grow personally and professionally
  • Have someone to ask if they need help and/or support

Kathy wants children and young people in the settings she works with to:

  • Feel good about themselves as learners, friends and members of their own unique communities, including their families.
  • Be supported by adults who understand their needs and how to meet these.
  • Develop the confidence, resilience and skills they need to manage challenges and make the most of opportunities.
  • Feel listened to and valued.
  • Recognise what they CAN do, what they want to do, and what they need other people to do to help them achieve this.
  • Have opportunities to be involved in planning their support.
  • See that adults will work together to help change happen.
