"I can't recommend Kathy's coaching sessions highly enough...Kathy enabled me to dig through a tangle of ideas and unravel the things that are important to me, bringing to life an aspirational plan with achievable goals. I came out of the sessions with greater self belief and strategies to quieten negative self talk." Katherine H
I am Kathy Jones, a professional psychologist and trained resilience and wellbeing coach. I want to help you achieve a 'good life', one where you can step out of autopilot mode and intentionally choose to parent, work, connect with others, and do the things you love, in the way you want. The way that feels 'right' for you. Where fun, connection, curiosity and success are within your reach. Where you can 'not only survive but thrive'. Where you can live and work with courage and authenticity.
As a highly experienced educational psychologist, coach and trainer I have access to a huge amount of knowledge and experience about human emotions, cognitive processes and behaviour all of which I apply regularly to my coaching with powerful effect. I am a trained emotions coaching practitioner meaning that I am able to dig deep with you to work out how your emotions might be supporting you in reaching your goals and what to do if fear, doubt or anxiety are getting in your way.
I strongly believe that you are the expert on you and coaching is a collaborative process where I bring my knowledge, skills and perspective and you bring your unique insights and understanding. Coaching is a partnership where your dreams, hopes and aspirations are at the centre of the work we do.
Because I am a professional educational psychologist I am chartered by the British Psychological Society and a member of their Division of Coaching Psychology. As well as training as an emotion coaching practitioner I am a trained acceptance and commitment coach and a full member of the International Society for Coaching Psychology.
Why resilience and wellbeing coaching?
Resilience and wellbeing are fundamental parts of our human experience. They impact on all aspects of our lives: our work, how we feel about ourselves, our parenting and our relationships with others. We all want to be able to live fully and intentionally. Not to be dictated to by stress, anxiety or self-doubt but to work towards the things that are REALLY IMPORTANT to us. And all of us deserve this.
I believe that being able to navigate the inevitable ups and downs of life with compassion, insight, effective tools and a real sense of purpose is essential in order for us to make the most of our relatively short but immensely precious lives.
Resilience and wellbeing coaching can help you:
What actually happens in coaching?
Over a series of coaching sessions, usually between 8 and 16, I hold a non-judgemental space for you where you can talk, reflect, think deeply, feel and identify actions you want to take. I offer alternative perspectives, gentle challenge, questions and tools that help you dig more deeply into your passions, values, thoughts, emotions and sensations. That help you unhook from self-doubt or self-critical thoughts that might be getting in your way of the life or business you want. Through coaching we can create a courageous and heartfelt path towards your 'good life'.
What coaching approaches do you use?
I use a range of approaches based in my extensive training and understanding of psychological models and human behaviour. The approaches I use most often, because in my experience they are particularly powerful in helping people achieve the changes they want, are acceptance and commitment coaching, emotions coaching and positive psychology coaching.
Who do you coach?
Because I have worked in education for nearly 30 years and understand the unique challenges and pressures of that work I often coach education professionals. However, my coaching extends to people from other walks of life including parents, other psychologists, scientists and entrepreneurs.
I work with individuals but also with schools and business to help them support the wellbeing, resilience and performance of those who work for them. I work 1:1 with many clients but also offer group coaching packages for organisations who want to support groups of staff, for example, 'The Mindful and Effective Educator' is an evidence based group coaching package for teachers.

My journey:
A few years ago, after experiencing stress and a sense that my work wasn't making the difference I really wanted to see in the world, I made the brave decision to move away from being employed by Local Authorities and set up Goodlife Psychology and Coaching.
This has given me the freedom to deepen the knowledge and coaching skills I already had from years of working as a psychologist and use these to help other people who want to make 'their difference'.
I still work as an Educational Psychologist alongside my coaching and the two have a huge amount in common. Applying psychology to improve the lives of other people fuels my passion for both of these and I feel incredibly fortunate to meet such a range of amazing people through both strands of my work.
What clients say...
"I felt as though (through coaching) things I have been thinking about in a disjointed way, just all came together in a way I was not expecting, and that it was incredibly satisfying and exciting." Tamasine B
"The coaching has given me a whole new outlook and mind-set. It has forced me to sit, think and organise my thoughts. It has encouraged me to think outside the box and outside my comfort zone when it comes to considering what I want from my life / career and the balance between the two...I appreciate your calm manner, your non-judgmental approach and your affirming words and the confidence you have given me to put my mental and physical well-being higher up my priorities." Jo C
Working with Kathy has been such a pleasure. I found her to be positive, sensitive and validating and I was surprised by how her approaches resonated with me. Working with Kathy gave me the push I needed to achieve a really big goal. Thank you so much I have really loved this coaching. Estelle C
"I don’t think I have ever been listened to and been heard so clearly. It is a weird but very positive sensation. Usually people listening have their own agendas and thoughts but that is not what this (coaching) is about. Fascinating…" Leyla B

I am a business or school leader looking for high quality coaching for my staff or colleagues. Why would I choose Goodlife Psychology and Coaching?
I am a professional Chartered Psychologist who has worked in education since 1995. I use coaching approaches with a strong evidence base which are proven to make a significant difference to the wellbeing and effectiveness of individuals and teams within organisation. I know how important it is to coach the 'whole person' when working with organisations to improve the effectiveness and retention of staff. Resilience and wellbeing work, delivered either individually or in groups, makes a significance difference to factors that impact in the workplace, for example: positivity, leadership, focus, confidence, stress management, motivation and inter-personal skills. All of which help people show up at their very best and are invaluable in running happy and effective organisations.
What exactly do you offer?
Where do you work?
Most of my coaching clients work with me online. this is a very effective medium for carrying out coaching and works extremely well for most people. For those who live locally and prefer to meet face-to-face there is the option to meet with me in a clinic space in Botley, Hampshire UK. I can sometimes also offer face-to-face sessions in the New Forest.
If you are a school or business in my local area then I can provide coaching in your workplace. I am happy to coach outdoors for people who find this a more conducive environment for personal growth work.
Would this coaching suit me?
I work with clients in many walks of life. My clients have included teachers, small business owners, professional people, other psychologists and parents. They have all wanted to do some courageous personal growth work in service of bringing meaning and fulfilment into their life, and commit to taking the actions that will move them closer to that life. I am a guide, not a director. I will not tell you what to do but help you delve deeply into yourself and find the talents and answers that are already there.
I always have a 30 minute connection call with clients before committing to a programme so that potential clients can experience a little of my coaching and establish whether there is a good fit between my coaching and the development work they are looking for. so if you are not sure then book in a call and we can talk through your thoughts and feelings about coaching. There is no sales pitch. I genuinely only want us to work together if my coaching is right for you.
