Specialist Psychologist and Coach. Director at Goodlife Psychology Ltd.

"Goodlife Psychology is built around the values that are really important to me: compassion, growth and equality. The belief that all adults and children should have opportunities to be heard, to thrive and contribute positively to their environment underpins all the work that I do.  " Kathy Jones

I am Kathy Jones, Director and Specialist Educational Psychologist at Goodlife Psychology Ltd. I am an HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist, a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS), a member of the BPS Division of Coaching Psychologists and the International Society for Coaching Psychology.

I have worked as an educational psychologist since qualifying in 2002. Prior this I taught in a school in Lambeth, London. Before setting up Goodlife Psychology in 2017, I spent several years employed by local authorities on the South Coast of England supporting a wide range of settings, projects and families. During this time I also provided training for the National Award for SEN Co-ordinators programme at Winchester University and worked with Southampton University as an associate tutor on the Educational Psychology Doctoral training course.

Over the years I have developed a particular interest and specialism in wellbeing and the mental-health of children and adults. Amongst other activities in this area, I currently work with the National Network of Mental Health Leads providing training and mentoring for school mental-health leads. I also coach and provide supervision for school leaders in a number of settings, helping each one to bring their skills, qualities and aspirations to life.

I have extensive experience of delivering staff wellbeing and professional development work through coaching, supervision, training and workshops details of which you can see on the relevant pages of this website. I use coaching and positive psychology as the basis for my work with adults and children and often use approaches taken from acceptance and commitment therapy.

In addition I have vast experience build up over two decades of working with children, schools and families helping them to understand and meet children's unique needs. Sometimes this work involves providing training and workshops for adults who live and work with those children. Sometimes it involves consultation or assessment in which I, along with the adults who know the child well and the child themselves, identify what their strengths and needs are and how they can best be supported to thrive and progress in their educational setting.

Sometimes I work with trusted associate educational psychologists. In this instance I will always provide you with details of the person you will be working with and seek your agreement before the work commences.
